Many thanks go out to all the volunteers of the Lamar Fire Department. These great people assume the role of first responders to a vast range of emergencies that threaten lives and property, possibly risking their own lives to protect others. Each February the Lamar Volunteer Fire Department hosts a Lamardi Gras celebration (one of their fundraisers), complete with parade, bead and candy tossing, great food, bands, etc.
